Ayanami Rei 綾波 レイ

Okay I've been looking high and low for this figure and thank God Animetsu had it on sale and on such an affordable price!

The figure arrived the next day and I thank Animetsu for their fast reply and service. I also am very grateful to the way they pack their items. Now that I've got that off let's start on the review of the figure.

Box: 4/5
I love the way the box is designed, easy and simple to unpack. The illustration is pretty standard and have some pictures of the figure and a velcro window for you to see the pretty figure of Rei inside. Wished it had more pictures of Rei in different poses though

Figure Face Sculpt: 5/5
The face sculpt is fantastic and shows the stoic and icy features of Rei, but the eyes gave her that life behind the stare. You know she's thinking of something but you just can't figure out what's behind that look. Great hair sculpt and the hair clips are even painted with black high lights.

The plugsuit: 4/5
It's WAAYYY Better than the first version. The shoulder pads are sewed upon and not the huge hulking hard pieces. Everything is nicely painted and done. The only fear I had is that because it's skin tight, it might tear after a few months.....

Accessories : 2/5
Rei comes with a pair of different hands...and a stand....that's it. I wish it would give us more hands or even some extra plastic like her hand phone or even Gendo's glasses. Heck I would love a head swap.

Articulation: 3,5/5
I've had my share of 12inch figures...and this figure doesn't disappoint me. It has a full range of movements but hindered by the skin tight plugsuit. However, Rei has nice neck and head movement, wrist movement, arms and leg swivel, double jointed elbows and knees....sadly she doesn't have side to side ankle movement. All in all it gets the job done.

Final Thoughts: Wish it had more parts or even a background back drop for the price we had to pay....Hot toys gave more stuff for their figures and their price aren't that high compared to a Medicom. But it's Rei so I will have fun posing her.

Great figure and I might get another one just because I love it and will keept it in storage.
